Cheap Flights to Miami
Florida deserves the nickname the Sunshine State, but its other name should be the "tourist state". Miami and Orlando are two of the top five international tourist destinations. While Orlando is the children's amusement park playground, Miami is known for something completely different. The young, rich and fashionable gather in Miami to do none other than party like rock stars and spend lots of cash.
Of course the first thing that anyone associates Miami with is South Beach and Miami Beach. Miami Beach is not actually attached to Miami the city. This heavenly stretch of land is a sand bar that is parallel to Biscayne Bay from Miami. Locals call this stretch of land the Billion Dollar Sandbar, because why else? Money rules. Most people come to Miami to visit Miami Beach and this happening mix of beautiful people, extravagant tastes and great beaches makes for an outrageous atmosphere.
Miami is the most populated city in Florida, and it is no wonder because of the flavorful mix of Hispanic influences, tourism and the fashion industry that makes Miami like no other Florida city.
Summer really isn't the best time to visit many places in Florida. The weather is humid (almost 90% humidity) and your vacation might fall during Florida's hurricane season. This is just another reason spring break is the college student's greatest holiday. March is the biggest and best season to come, so you have to book your reservation early; if not, you snooze you lose. Another reason to come in March happens to be one of the biggest events in Miami, the Carnaval Miami. This nine-day festival starts in March and includes a Miss Carnaval pageant, night concerts at the Orange Bowl, jazz concerts across town, a Latin drag queen show and cooking contest, just to name a few.
The culmination of the festival is the Calle Ocho Festival and is best seen in Little Havana (a distinct neighborhood of Miami) because of the amazing Cuban food, music and culturally rich surroundings.
For the most part tourists throng the beaches of Miami for the clubs, bars and people, and in between all of that you can also witness a few other eccentric touches Miami has. The popular Art Deco Historic District is located in South Beach (SoBe), the southern park of Miami Beach. Here you will find some extraordinary and impressive redesigns of architecture that include rows of off-the-chart colored houses from the 1920s. Miami Beach itself has a few art deco flares to it.
If you are into seeing and being seen, this is the vacation spot you have been looking for. It can be relaxing, and while there you can check out some great diving and snorkeling, but many people come for the livin'-large attitude everyone has. Try to get off the beaten path to experience more than the glitz and glamour of Miami Beach: There are over 10,000 islands in Florida's National Everglades Park, you could go for a day tour or be a little more adventurous and rent a canoe and get down and dirty with the animals of the marshes (crocodiles and alligators, bottle-nosed dolphins, manatees, bald eagles and ospreys.)
Life just got a little bit more expensive in Miami Beach, but depending on what kind of scene you are looking for beautiful people, nice cars, women wearing as little clothing as possible Miami Beach is all of that and much more.
